Those of us in this profession are dedicated to providing whatever support is necessary to insure that a pregnant woman and her family have a gratifying and satisfying childbirth experience.
As a labor and delivery room RN, I worked very hard to stop women in premature labor from giving birth too soon. When contractions were successfully stopped, they were sent home on oral meds and bedrest for the remainder of their pregnancy.
I admitted these same women to the hospital, at the appropriate time, in labor. One would think that since we had worked so hard to stop premature labor, that all we had to do was stop the medication at the appropriate time, and the baby would be born easily.  It is not the case. I spent most of my time with these women teaching them to breathe and relax while they were in labor. (Thank goodness I am a Lamaze instructor!) Labor was as difficult as it could be with anyone. They were totally unprepared for the experience, as were their partners. They had to learn everything right on the spot.
And so, this video "Having Your Baby!" A Complete Lamaze Prepared Childbirth Class was born. We taught an actual Lamaze class (with all the techniques and information) and filmed it; we took the camera into the hospital and filmed various obstetrical procedures and a vaginal and Cesarean birth, so that nothing would remain a mystery. ( The more you know, the more prepared you are.)
 We have received so many thanks from expectant parents, childbirth educators, hospitals, nurses, and physicians for producing this video. Now, anyone who cannot get to class can bring the class home to learn, and be prepared, for the best possible birth experience. There is no reason any longer, to be unprepared.
